How to Find the Right Peak Performance Coach for You

If you're looking to take your personal or professional life to the next level, a peak performance coach may be just what you need. But with so many coaches out there, how do you choose the right one for you? Here are some tips to help you find the perfect coach to help you achieve your goals.

With that said, here are 4 things to have in mind when you're looking for a coach to help you get to the next level of your performance 👊

Determine Your Goals and Needs

Before you start searching for a peak performance coach, it's important to determine your goals and needs. What areas of your life do you want to improve? What specific skills or habits do you want to develop? Do you need help with time management, stress management, decision making, goal-setting? Once you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, you can look for a coach who specializes in those areas and has a track record of helping clients achieve similar goals.

The most important question have in mind: Do you want someone that will hold space for you, help you think outside the box, and add novel solutions to what you want to accomplish or do you want someone that will push you to perform and stretch your limits and comfort zone?

Someone similar to you but a few steps ahead of you? Or Someone completely different that can bring a fresh perspective to you?

Both can be useful, so it's up to you to decide what you want right now.

A side note: Instead of the word goals, I use aspirations and outcomes because goals is a very vague term but for the purposes of this blogposts I use goals as that is the term most people use.

Research Potential Coaches

Once you have a list of potential coaches, it's important to do your research. Look for reviews and testimonials from past clients, and check their credentials and experience. What you really want to do instead is to have a call with them. All of the coaches you see as a potentially good fit. No matter the credentials and experience, your experience in the call with your potential coach is a better determining factor of the success of your coach-coachee relationship.

You should schedule a consultation or discovery call to get a better sense of their coaching style and approach. It's important to find a coach who you feel comfortable working with and who can provide the support and guidance you need to reach your goals.

Schedule a Consultation

Scheduling a consultation or discovery/strategy call with a potential peak performance coach is a crucial step in finding the right coach for you. This call allows you to get a better sense of their coaching style and approach, as well as ask any questions you may have about their coaching. Make sure you schedule consultations with multiple coaches to find the best fit for you.

Trust Your Gut and Make a Decision

While it's important to do your research and schedule consultations with potential coaches, ultimately the decision of who to work with should come down to your gut feeling. You can think of a decision with logic first but the final decision is emotional. An interesting study showed that patients with brain damage who lost their ability to process emotional information and gut feelings, where unable to make decisions even for the most minute things in their day, so yes do your logical thinking but remember that in the end of the day the final deciding factor is how you feel about it.

Pay attention to how you feel during and after the consultation call. Do you feel comfortable and supported? Do you feel like the coach understands your goals and can help you achieve them? Do they listen to you and ask clarifying questions? Do they look inspired to help you?

You want to choose to have people around you, who believe in you and support you. Trust your instincts and choose the coach who feels like the best fit for you. Remember, this is a personal and professional investment, so it's important to choose wisely.
